How Do I Choose A Wrongful Death Attorney?

In order to have a better chance at obtaining compensation for the wrongful death of your loved one, you need a personal injury lawyer with extensive experience handling wrongful death cases. With more than 36 years of experience, Dan Cytryn, the head attorney of the firm, has handled more than 100 jury trials and close to 50 appeals. Cytryn has multiple recognitions from different attorney organizations including being named as a Super Lawyer from 2010 to 2013, the highest rating on Avvo (a nationwide lawyer directory), and is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell.

Mr. Cytryn handled the wrongful death case of Pollock v. Florida Department of Highway Patrol, which made it to the Supreme Court. Our client was the passenger in a vehicle traveling on the Palmetto Expressway, when it struck a stalled unlit tractor trailer and killed our client and the vehicle driver as well. About an hour earlier, another individual driving on the Palmetto almost crashed into the stalled unlit tractor trailer, so he called 911 and was transferred to the Florida Department of Highway Patrol and notified the dispatcher that the tractor had no lights or warning signs. Unfortunately, an officer was not dispatched to the scene and ultimately resulted in the wrongful death of our client. The jury awarded $8.9 million for the case, which at the time, was likely the highest jury verdict in Florida for one parent for the death of an adult child. Unfortunately, the jury’s verdict was reversed by the Florida Supreme Court in a 5-2 decision, with the court holding that the Florida Highway Patrol owed no duty to the parent of the woman who was killed.
