Personal Injury Attorney in South Florida Handles Injury and Death Cases from Taking Xarelto

Did you lose a loved one due to uncontrollable bleeding from taking Xarelto? Did someone you know suffer from a life-threatening infection leading to permanent or serious injuries while on Xarelto? If you or someone you know has lost a loved one due to the irreversible effects of Xarelto, call our office now for your free consultation to see how we can assist you. Introduced in June of 2011, from Janssen Pharmaceutical and Bayer Healthcare, Xarelto, also known as Rivaroxaban, came to be the next hit anticoagulant drug. Xarelto is a blood-thinning drug produced in an effort to reduce the risk of blood clots and heart attacks in patients who suffer from deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolisms.

The drug was also expanded to reduce the risk of blood clots with patients in remission from knee and hip replacement surgery. The manufacturers of the drug failed to disclose the true nature of the damages this drug could cause, resulting in many lawsuits against makers Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a Johnson & Johnson company, and Bayer Healthcare.

Alongside any blood thinner, there is a risk of uncontrollable bleeding. Unlike other blood thinners such as warfarin, the big problem with Xarelto is that there is no known antidote to reverse the life threatening effects of the drug.

The hemorrhaging effects of this drug will, unfortunately, continue until the drug has cleared the system. Other incidents involved a substantial increase in the risk of infection arising in the wound site of knee or hip replacement surgery, often forcing patients back into additional surgeries to remove the infection.

If you are taking Xarleto, the following actions can lower your risk of bleeding:

  • Tell your physician or any medical staff that you are taking Xarelto
  • Avoid activities where you could get an abrasion or opening
  • If you have sustained any injury, even though there was no external bleeding, meet with your doctor
  • Limit alcohol intake as this drug may increase the risk for abdominal bleeding
  • If you are pregnant or plan on becoming pregnant, tell your doctor that you are taking Xarelto

There is a time frame in which lawsuits need to be filed before the party at fault assumes no burden of responsibility. In order to avoid falling victim indefinitely to these drug companies, call us today so we can review the facts of your case.

At this point there has not been a recall filed for Xarelto. The process is still in the early stages of investigation. Thousands of events have already been linked back to Xarelto.
